Two car parking shade quotations can describe the same site and still cover different work. One may include design and installation; another may leave civil work, access equipment or drainage connections to the client. Comparing only the final total can hide those differences.
This guide helps Saudi owners and procurement teams review offers after receiving them. If you are still preparing the brief, start with our quotation-request checklist. For the comparison itself, use one written schedule of requirements and ask every contractor to respond to it.
1. Use the same layout and measurement basis
Record the drawing revision and the parking rows each offer covers. Check the stated number of bays, roof coverage, proposed supports and any areas excluded. Ask whether the quantity being priced is the canopy area, another defined measurement or a lump-sum scope. Resolve differences rather than assuming the totals describe identical coverage.
If one contractor proposes an alternative arrangement, keep it separate from the base offer. An alternative may be useful, but its different coverage or support positions should remain visible. Our drawing-review guide explains the dimensions and revisions to clarify.
2. Match named materials and supporting documents
Put the proposed covering reference, manufacturer information and steel finish beside the requirement. A broad description such as “HDPE shade” does not by itself identify the complete specification. Request the relevant data sheets and note any substitutions that need client or consultant review.
Keep material evidence separate from installation commitments. A manufacturer's document should not be treated as proof that every part of a contractor's proposed system meets your project requirements. Use the parking-shade fabric guide and steel-finishes guide to frame specific questions, not to prescribe an unreviewed specification.
3. Make exclusions visible before comparing prices
For each offer, mark every relevant item as included, excluded or awaiting clarification. Useful rows include:
- Site verification, drawings, calculations and the stated approval process.
- Steel fabrication, finish, covering, fixings, delivery and installation.
- Access equipment, lifting arrangements and work-area management.
- Excavation, foundations, service coordination and reinstatement.
- Any gutters, downpipes and connections to existing drainage.
- Inspection, handover records and maintenance information.
These are comparison prompts, not a statement that every project needs every item or that all are included in our offers. Where another contractor will perform part of the work, record the interface clearly. An unpriced exclusion is an unresolved cost, not a saving you can safely count.
4. Compare commercial assumptions separately
Check offer validity, payment milestones, stated taxes, delivery assumptions and the conditions for starting work. Ask whether the programme begins after an order, drawing approval, material approval or site readiness. Record the contractor's actual wording; do not turn a provisional duration into a confirmed completion commitment.
Review any warranty proposal by its stated coverage, exclusions, issuing party and claim procedure. A duration alone does not explain what is covered. Keep optional work and later changes separate from the agreed base scope.
5. Send one clarification list to close the gaps
Use a simple comparison sheet with a requirement column, one column for each offer and a final column for open questions. Attach the same current layout and specification to each clarification request. Ask contractors to issue a revised, dated proposal where their scope or price changes.
Keep unresolved items visible until answered. When an offer is selected, make sure its final scope and drawing references match the accepted clarification record. The installation guide covers the next stage, while the drainage guide helps clarify rain-cover interfaces.

Common comparison questions
Is the lowest parking-shade quotation always the better choice?
The total alone cannot establish that. First compare the same coverage, materials, included work, exclusions and commercial conditions, then evaluate the complete offer against the project's priorities.
How should I compare an alternative shade design?
Keep the base requirement and the alternative separate. Ask the contractor to identify changes to coverage, supports, materials, scope and price so the difference can be reviewed.
What if an item is not mentioned in the quotation?
Mark it as awaiting clarification and obtain a written answer. Silence should not be interpreted as confirmation that the item is included.
